• Capacità di mantenere inalterate le caratteristiche chimico fisiche del liquido nel tempo;
• Incapacità di trasmettere odori e sapori ai liquidi contenuti;

• Borracce per ciclismo su strada: sono leggere, di piccole dimensioni e costituite da un corpo in polietilene e un tappo a vite in materiale plastico. Sono ergonomiche e il beccuccio di bevuta è esterno, per permettere al ciclista di poggiare le labbra senza compiere altri gesti e diminuire al minimo le tempistiche;

• Funzionamento del beccuccio: fate scattare e chiudete il beccuccio e valutate se sia resistente ed efficace oppure forzato o troppo lasco;
• Certificazione: osservate il fondo della borraccia. Dovete trovarvi impresso il simbolo per il nullaosta ministeriale per il contenimento di alimenti destinati all’alimentazione umana (di solito una forchetta e un bicchiere), i codici di materiali con i quali è costruita (PE, PP, PVC), il nome del fabbricante, la data di fabbricazione e la possibilità del lavaggio in lavastoviglie;

Hydrate is the main rule for a cyclist.

A god drinking bottle must comply with regulations for containers in contact with liquids for human consumption, specifically:
• Ability to maintain the physical and chemical characteristics of the liquid over time;
• Inability to transmit odors and flavors to the liquid contents;
• Free of chemical elements such as phthalates, acids which are used to soften plastics:
• Before BPA, bisphenol polycarbonate derived from synthetic and harmful to health.

The water bottles are not all equal, but there are different types designed for the most diverse purposes and disciplines:
• Bottles for road cycling: they are light, small in size and consist of a polyethylene body and a screw cap of plastic material. They are ergonomic and the drinking spout is outside, to allow the rider to rest his lips without making other gestures and decrease to a minimum the timing;
• Bottles for MTB: are similar to those on the road but are very often equipped with a "hat" of the nozzle protection, so that mud, water and earth becomes deposited above.
• Water bottle for cold liquids: are designed for cyclists and cyclists running by bike during the summer. They have an inner lining suitable to contain and keep cold liquids.
• Bottles for large volumes: have an internal volume ranging from 0.75 to 1.5 liters capacity.
• Bottles for hot liquids: are used by cyclists and cycling tourists who do not give the exit even when temperatures are below freezing.

Very often, when you buy a water bottle, it pays attention only to the price or aesthetics, leaving out the other details. If you want to buy new bottles, you must also pay any attention to these aspects:
• Size: weigh up if the bottle will enter the cage of your bike.
• Resistance of the cap: try to open and close several times the cap, in order to test the consistency and assess how grafted on the thread of the body.
• Operation of the spout: you shoot and close the spout and assess whether it is robust and effective or tight or too loose;
• Odors Interior: unscrew the cap and sniffed the inside. It must be perfectly odorless or at best put off until a slight plastic smell.
• Certification: look at the bottom of the bottle. You have to find imprinted symbol for ministerial authorization for the storage of foodstuffs for human consumption (typically a fork and a glass), the codes of the materials with which it is built (PE, PP, PVC), the manufacturer's name , the date of manufacture and the possibility of washing in the dishwasher;

Thirty days cycling to notice, after the long ride, that he took the wrong direction.
It was happened to a young Chinese who has noticed the error only after he was arrested because he was cycling on the highway.
The man after celebration of the Chinese New Year in Rizhao, in Shandong Province, in December tried to retourn to his house, in Qiqihar, 1700 km away.

He was stopped by the police in the central province of Anhui, while he was traveling in the opposite direction. BBC  told his story, which has taken the report from the Chinese newspaper People's Daily Online. The man had been traveling by bike because he had no money to pay for public transport. The agents have paid the train  to allow him to return to his home.

Within thirty days of travel on two wheels the man, short of money lived in the internet cafes found in his path. He was not able to read maps, says the report, and therefore had to rely on the opinions of passers big mistaking.

Fend

Say goodbye to bulky helmets for your urban cycling.
FEND is the new practise solution for all the urban cyclist!
We all know how important it is to protect out head, especially when cycling in traffic, and finding the ideal helmet for every need is not so easy.

FEND, it is foldable, lightweight and offers as well as good protection in case of accident, also excellent comfort when worn. Made with a double layer structure, formed in the outer part from durable ABS, coupled with lightweight foam EPS, good for shock absorption.
It is super compact. In fact, once folded, FEND has a footprint of only one third of its original size.

The helmet components are held together by webbing and straps Nylon, reinforced with metallic elements in the most stressed parts. The interior is also lined with soft felt, and featuring the "Fit Silicon Adjuster" for a perfect fit.

It has also an elegant design, inspired by the modern urban architecture, although it resembles the shape of the old leather protections used by cyclists during the years of heroic cycling.

Unfortunately in Italy very few urban cyclists use helmets.
When we use the bike in the city, not mandatory, we tend to think that the helmet for cyclists is useless. The fact that the law does not require users to wear, however, does not mean he could not save his life.
There are helmets so light and compact business that they do not feel even when wearing.
In Italy, unlike other foreign countries, the helmet is not mandatory.
We take care so well our bikes but we underestimate the risks of the road.
Many protections to avoid scratches on the case of carbon, special soaps to wash thoroughly and then ... do not wear bike helmets.
There is no use attacking the helmet to the handlebars or leave it in your backpack. The helmet must be worn, even more so if the cyclist is a child or one tourer immersed in city traffic, or a rider pedals on dirt mountain biking.
Just recently, a small distraction and we are on the ground! We all know, when you go on a bike fall is a possibility.

Never without your helmet!!!

One year on a bike

Copriscarpe stagni: mantengono i piedi asciutti.

Some tips to bike when it rains.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
waterproof and breathable jacket: allows riding in heavy rain without having the feeling of being in a sauna.
Overshoes ponds: keep your feet dry.
Fenders: an element that always comes back in fashion for cyclists who do not want to ride a bike regardless of weather conditions. The wheels in motion projecting water, mud and dust backwards, in the direction of the legs and on a center line in the back, the mudguard avoids everything. Stay dry for longer, and you and your bike will be protected from splashes of mud. Much of the bike will be spared from dirt.
REMAIN VISIBLE
Do not forget to use a visible clothing (reflective in the dark) and the front and rear lights.
PREDICT AND ANTICIPATE
One of the fundamental qualities required in cycling is the ability to predict and anticipate danger. In case of rain should be more important than ever to avoid the dangers and be able to brake properly despite an extended stopping distance.
BRAKES
With the bike braking distances in the rain they are larger than the dry. We must allow time for shoes to dry before that their action is really effective. Although carbon rims have made progress in recent years, it is best to choose the aluminum wheels that are most effective in the rain. You can keep the carbon rims but focusing extra attention. Distances are very elongated and the wheels from locking occurs more rapidly than aluminum rims.To dry the circle, before needing to brake, you have to actuate the brakes lightly several times.
CONTACT WITH THE GROUND
Some tires are specific for humid conditions with a tire that provides more grip in the rain. It is never easy to predict the rain and you can not think of changing the tires at every downpour. A tire or a tubular less swollen will have a greater surface of contact with the ground and thus a better adherence. It involves a minimum loss of performance, but in the curve, the road holding will be much better
Vinegar: to stay glued to the groundIt might sound like a joke or an ancient remedy of the grandmother, but the result is amazing. Before going out in the rain it is advisable to pass a vinegar-soaked cloth on the tires for sgrassarli and increase road holding. Attention, the effects diminish over the outputs.
GOOD CLEANING
After an exit on wet roads have to clean the tires with a cloth to remove flints and foreign bodies. With the opportunity to clean and lubricate the chain to prevent it from rusting.

The wind has always been considered the enemy # 1 for a cyclist; infact it and its relative friction are those which can slow the competitive performance.
The wind comes when he wants. He does what he please; with that capricious air of those who a moment of caresses and another destroys you.

Some tricks that allow the rider to counteract the wind.

  • The position taken during the ride is all. Assume the correct position, especially when going against the wind is essential. Thus we need to study the route, not only in its development elevation, but above all from the geographical point of view. We must study the possible directions of winds and how these may vary, to changing weather conditions. Finally, on the day of the competition, we will rely on the reliable weather forecasts that will be of great help to the rider so that he will know which position to take in a group, where and when.
  • The importance of the group: to collaborate with the group allows the rider to save energy. It 'important not to get too close to those that precede or accompany if they are on the side of the road or near the centerline. A good solution is to create an aligned group depending on the wind direction.
  • The moment you are the head of the group and you encounter a favorable wind,  is the right moment to exploit it in their favor to gain ground on the group with an escape. The best way to start an attack is to break away from the side of the road to the interior, this tactic will not find shelter for those who want to go in pursuit.
  • Equipment can adjust to the wind conditions. Use a thin, lightweight front wheel and a high-profile rear wheel may prove successful but also make driving more difficult. It must therefore be assessed from time to time what the right to use equipment.

7. Mantenere i piedi caldi e asciutti.  Per proteggerci esistono diverse soluzioni: anfibi, scarpe in gore-tex o, addirittura, calzini impermeabili.

We propose some advice for riding on the snow.
1. Brakes: the use should be limited to a minimum. Braking on slippery surfaces increases the chance to block the wheels and lose control of the bike. The front brake can become your worst enemy.
2. Avoid metal parts: manhole covers, grates and other winter metal surfaces risk being transformed into real ice sheets.
3. Maintain an upright position: do the curves in the fold is a wonderful feeling, but it's better to reserve it for the dry season. It is better to slow down before facing a curve so as to remain perpendicular to the road by not say too much and taking advantage of the maximum area of the tire contact on the pavement.
4. The right covers: use covers that provide a good adherence to the road surface. The knobby tires of mountain bike or cyclo-cross can be an excellent idea. Before going out in the street, always check the pressure: if the tires are slightly inflated have a larger contact surface with the road surface and thus increased grip.
5. Use the fenders: in order not to find yourmself covered by a nasty mix of snow, earth, salt and grime.
6. Better fixed? Precisely because of the danger that the use of the brakes is for those who ride on snow and ice, a good solution can be to resort to a fixed-gear bicycle that forcing a constant control of the pedal stroke, performs the function of a kind of ABS . This allows for the progressive slowdown unthinkable using the bicycle freewheel.
7. Keep your feet warm and dry. To protect us there are several solutions: amphibians, shoes gore-tex or even waterproof socks.
8. Occupy the center of the lane: the roadside tend to accumulate debris and snow mountains, ride on the right in these circumstances means increasing the risk of punctures or accidental impact on the pedals objects or snowdrifts losing in this way the 'equilibrium.
9. Prefer a slight report, it will allow you to react better to the unexpected.
10. Cleaning: during the winter, to avoid the danger of ice formation, the streets are usually sprinkled with salt that will try to squeeze in all mechanical parts of your bicycle corrodendole. Cared for the maintenance of your bike by keeping it clean and getting fat thoroughly exposed mechanical parts.

Robert Marchand

The best idea ever!!!

A light-reflective spray protects nighttime riders better than fluorescent clothing.
